What is the True Story of Our Lady of Fatima?
The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd children in 1917 in Fatima, Portugal, on the 13th day of the month from May to October. The final apparition on October 13th concluded with the spectacular “Miracle of the Sun” and was witnessed by over 70,000 people. Although many Catholics have heard of Our Lady of Fatima, most do not know the incredible story in its entirety or its crucial importance in world history, the life of the Church, and our own eternal salvation.

Over a century after the apparitions, Our Lady’s appearance at Fatima remains a event of the greatest importance in the life of the Church. Pope Francis, who dedicated his pontificate to Our Lady of Fatima, honored the centenary with a historic visit to the site of the Marian apparitions on May 13th, 2017. You can immerse yourself in the history and meaning of Fatima from your own home by participating in this 30-day series, which will present and explain the apparitions and show you how they apply to you and your family today.
We believe it is important for everyone to know the Fatima story, what it means, and how it has dramatically unfolded in history since the original event. In the words of Pope Benedict XVI: “We would be mistaken to think that Fatima’s prophetic mission is complete.” As you read, listen, and pray through this series, our goal is for you to practice your Catholic faith in a way that will be transformative for your whole life.

Father Patrick Winslow
Fr. Patrick Winslow is a priest and canon lawyer for the Diocese of Charlotte, North Carolina. Before entering the seminary, he was enrolled in a doctoral chemistry program at Georgia Tech, where he discerned a call to the priesthood through his childhood devotion to Our Lady of Fatima. He graduated in 1999 with an STB in Theology from Catholic University of America and was ordained to the priesthood. He went on to earn a JCL in Canon Law at Catholic University of America in 2012. Fr. Winslow has gained popularity through his DVD lectures with the Catholic Scripture Study International program. He currently serves as the vicar general and chancellor of the Diocese of Charlotte.
Gretchen Filz, O.P.
Gretchen Filz, O.P., is a Catholic content writer with an M.A. in Christian Apologetics. As a result of her studies in theology and philosophy at an Evangelical seminary, she discovered the truth of Catholicism and entered into full communion with the Catholic Church in 2011. A passionate convert and Lay Dominican, Gretchen lives out her vocation through prayer, study, teaching, writing, and engaging in a variety of apostolates. Though I am only at day four I am learning so much. This series is excellent. I hope and recommend all Catholics wishing to advance in their spiritual life to sign up. I prefer to go through the exercises in the morning so that its message is on my mind throughout the rest of the day.

Thank you for following up as I was going to send you an email to express my appreciation for being invited to participate in this Novena. I was familiar with the Fatima story but this Novena went well beyond anything I expected The historical, scriptural background that was provided was very informative. More importantly, Lucia’s account of Mary’s message especially the impact of making the Rosary an integral part of one’s prayer life was of immeasurable value to me. I have a new appreciation of the importance of the Fatima message and with God’s grace will be able to stay faithful to honoring Mary. One last comment, I can’t tell you much I enjoyed Father Winslow’s commentaries They were insightful and conveyed the seriousness of our responsibility to respond to the challenges of Mary’s message.
I thoroughly enjoyed the 30 day Fatima series and experienced some wake up calls and new energy for saying the rosary every day. I feel spiritually enriched. She truly wishes to read this series. Could you Please make this available in a published book to be read over and over, and to be able to share this with others. So many times I came across super important information that I know my adult children should heed and would help them live a more pure life. (They Need Fatima more than ever)!!! Please don’t take this away! It has so much important history, explanations, causes and reasons, why this apparitions took place. Also, it is good to know the importances of all the previous apparitions, giving the same message. I feel that my children and many more people just go through life as if they were the ones in charge and in control. This is a message I truly want my children to pay attention. I absolutely love this series. I had previously read a book on Fatima, but this has been so complete. I enjoyed learning the state of the world, especially Russia and Portugal during this time. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this Fatima study!!! Looked foreward to it everyday, cant believe its unfortunately concluded. I LEARNED SOOOO MUCH about Our Holy Mother, about Fatima in general…..I thought the study was VERY well presented and informative……I LOVE the Rosary, will be praying along with this Rosary for as long as I am able to access it!! Bought the special edition Fatima Rosary – it has become my favorite!! I hope you will offer other studies in the future – I will DEFINATELY subscribe. And yes, I have been RICHLY spiritually blessed by this study, I feel MUCH closer to Our Lord and His Holy Mother because of my Participation!!! I was blown away, had no idea of the importance of this visitation. Why don?t we get more information regarding Fatima? Everyone I have spoken to knew nothing about the 30 day presentation, mentioned it to a group in church this Sunday. Anyway, I loved it and couldn?t wait for the next daily presentation. I have been taking my iphone into church with me to pray the rosary along with the audio ?pray the rosary?. The audio with Father Winslow was powerful.I want this in my library!
