Father David Miller
Fr. David Miller is a priest for the Diocese of Charlotte, North Carolina. One of twelve children, he began discerning his vocation to the priesthood during his middle school years. Fr. Miller has a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother and, from 2000-2003, was a member of the Congregation of Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary (the Marians of the Immaculate Conception) before entering seminary in his native Diocese of Charlotte in 2006. He was ordained to the priesthood in 2010, and currently serves as pastor of St. Dorothy Catholic Church in Lincolnton, North Carolina.
Whitney Hetzel
Whitney Hetzel and her husband, James, have been married for thirty-three years. They have nine children ranging in age from twelve to thirty-two. Whitney, who has been homeschooling for twenty-seven years, is an exercise enthusiast who enjoys blogging about health and fitness over at 9 Kid Fitness. But her real passion is discussing faith, family, and the challenges of putting one foot in front of the other on a daily basis, all of which she writes about at Catholic Company Magazine and the Good Catholic blog. Whitney has a B.A. in English and Journalism from Indiana University and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Saint Louis University.
Gretchen Filz, O.P.
Gretchen Filz, O.P., is a Catholic content writer with an M.A. in Christian Apologetics. As a result of her studies in theology and philosophy at an Evangelical seminary, she discovered the truth of Catholicism and entered into full communion with the Catholic Church in 2011. A passionate convert and Lay Dominican, Gretchen lives out her vocation through prayer, study, teaching, writing, and engaging in a variety of apostolates. This series is the best! I completed it for the second time a few months ago.
I just finished this series today. It was a huge blessing. Thankfully, as I’m hard of hearing from birth and wear two hearing aids, I’m able to understand Fr. Miller’s videos. I learned so much from it. Now I want to learn more other series. Mary, undoer of knots, pray for us!

So true for me how Father Miller describes Mary as a good mother, sometimes doing the work for us, as I put the folded, clean clothes away for my boys. And other times gently showing us a hard lesson over and over in varied ways, until we are strong enough to see it and take the next step. Loving mother, thank you! And thank you for reminding me of this at just the right time, Good Catholic!
As a quite new convert, I made it my New Year’s Resolution to learn more about Mary and to learn true devotion to her as our Blessed Mother. A few days later I received the offer of this series. It has been such a blessing to me; a little overwhelming at times but today, with the beautiful image of the snow, I know that that grace which I am not yet able to absorb is there, waiting for the moment to enter. Thank you for the enormous gift of this series.
So thankful for what I am learning. I will say my “knot” has changed for this Novena since day 1.
This spiritual learning series is quite powerful. Doing the novena alone without this background is very different. I feel the movement of the Holy Spirit here and am so thankful for this. The connection to our Pope and the problems of our world combine here to see the efficacy of this devotion…So full of inspiration and amazing facts. I have prayed this novena many times but never knew all of this history.
Why wasn’t our religious education taught in this manner? Had my religious ed been presented in this manner I can assure you my life would have been much different.
