We often have the best of intentions at the beginning of Advent.
We tell ourselves that we will take more time for recollection and prayer. We promise ourselves that we won’t get caught up in all the things to do and the material preparations for Christmas.

We are rushed and stressed and are in danger of losing sight of the real purpose of Advent—not the material preparation of our homes, but the spiritual preparation of our hearts for Christ.

Fr. Jeffrey Kirby
Fr. Jeffrey Kirby, STD, is the pastor of Our Lady of Grace Parish in Indian Land, SC. He is a moral theologian, Papal Missionary of Mercy, Adjunct Professor of Theology at Belmont Abbey College, and the host of Good Catholic’s Morning Offering podcast. He is the author of several books and has been a guest on EWTN, Salt + Light television, the BBC, and Catholic radio.
Tsh Oxenreider
Tsh Oxenreider is the author of several books, including Shadow & Light, her sought-after Advent guide, and At Home in the World, her travel memoir about her family’s school year of traveling around the world with one backpack each. She’s also a long-time podcaster, writes the popular newsletter The Commonplace, leads annual pilgrimages to Europe, and serves her local community as a classical humanities teacher. A mother to three teenagers and wife to one husband, Tsh lives with her family in Georgetown, Texas.
Heather Khym
Heather Khym is the co-host of the internationally popular Abiding Together podcast. She and her husband, Jake, are the cofounders of Life Restoration Ministries, where she serves as director of vision and ministry of the British Columbia–based apostolate. She has more than twenty-five years of experience as a speaker and retreat leader who offers workshops and conferences in the United States and Canada.
